Back to work.
You can't just sit around
depressed, not doing anything. GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY
NEED. (I'm talking to me, not you, gentle readers.)
I had originally written
a very long and emotional e-mail, but I do not intend to send it. You know how
I'm feeling, I know how you're feeling, and for those of you who may have been
closer to all this than myself, I fervently hope that you have a support network
of loved ones around you. I have nine cousins and many in-laws and second cousins
who work and live in New Jersey, Manhattan, and Queens. They are all fine. I
am very lucky. They are not so lucky (one cousin saw most of the disaster, and
one of my second cousins goes to high school where many classmates have lost
friends and family).
But enough about me.
Jon gave a wonderful opening
statement for The Daily Show on Thursday. For those of you who missed it, I
am betting that it will re-air on Monday at 9 am and 6 pm (central time). I
am considering uploading a sound file. I wanted to do a transcript, but it's
not really the sort of thing you want to listen to over and over. I don't think
I can stomach doing a transcript. If anyone else has the heart to do that, I
would gladly accept volunteers. His words were terribly important, and I think
seeing them in print would be valuable. Perhaps a group of you could divide
it up and do parts of it. E-mail me if you're able and willing. I think it would
be a more worthwhile text to send out than much of the crap that's being forwarded
around lately. (Who CARES how many elevens were in the disaster? And NO -- THE
JEWS DID NOT HAVE ADVANCE NOTICE OF THE ATTACK, YOU STUPID @*%#!)
I will be doing the updates
again. We need to be entertained. We need to go back to whatever normalcy we
can find. Fan newsletters are tiny things in the grand scheme, but being able
to focus on the tiny things is a luxury I fully intend to keep.
