Who
are you? What are you?
We are an unofficial, unisex, Internet-based, Jon Stewart fan club and information
site. This club and site represents the union of the original Jon Stewart Estrogen
Brigade (JSEB) (archives here)
and the old Stewart Supremacist Site (SSS) (archives here).
The JSEB is now the radical estrogen wing of the JSIA--a hormonal special forces,
if you will. (The SSS has been sent to a beautiful farm with lots of land where
it can run around with flowers and pretty children to play with it, please don't
cry.) If you haven't seen it already, read the JSIA's mission
statement.
Do you know Jon Stewart?
No.
Really?
A few of us have had the good fortune of Jon
Encounters, but none of us (to our knowledge) "knows" him. Jon
does not endorse this site, nor has he acknowledged that he has ever visited
it. He has mentioned at least twice his awareness of (or at least was forced
to become aware of) the JSEB here
and here, but that
does not amount to a special relationship with him. Frankly, we don't want to
bother him. If you don't believe us and are under the impression that we have
a direct line to him, them please remove your cap and replace it with one made
out of heavy-duty aluminum.
Thus far it appears that Jon cannot and does not want to be contacted via e-mail.
If you'd like to write him or anyone on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
here's the mailing address. (Yes, you have to buy a stamp. Oh the humanity!)

What's
the Jon News Mailing List?
An e-mailed source for Jon TV appearances, standup dates, magazine alerts,
your more reliable gossip, links, etc. The JSIA, with massive help from visitors,
strangers (sometimes even promoters and journalists), and its 1700+ members,
is committed to getting you the freshest, tastiest Jon news out there. E-mail
volume is low and you WILL NOT GET SPAM. But you will get the ads that
Yahoo sticks into each e-mail, unfortunately.
We keep no official rolls or track any of your personal information. Our numbers
are determined solely by the number of people on the list (1700+). Leave by
unsubscribing from the list (see instructions below).
What
do you get out of this? Do you make money off this?
No, running this site costs a small fortune.
We have never made a profit or even broken even on this site or any of its predecessors.
We used to take donations, and those are reflected on our accounting
page because we believe in accountability. If you're looking for a place to
host your site, Dreamhost
has been our server from the beginning. Our ranking at Alexa.com
is "Very Fast (85% of sites are slower)". We get a referral fee if
you sign up through us. Click this
link or click on any of the Dreamhost boxes at the bottom of each page.

Joining the list makes you a JSIA member. We don't sell or give out e-mail
addresses. Annie started the list back in 1999 on the Stewart Supremacist Site
with one subscriber named Katie who good-naturedly played along and pretended
that she was on a "list." Since all posts are moderated, there is
no spam. You can NOT post to this list. Only Annie or approved members are allowed
to post. If you have any trouble joining, please contact Annie.
There are two ways to join:
1) E-Mail. Send a blank e-mail to:
JSIA-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
2) Web. If you have a Yahoo account or are willing to sign
up for one, you can sign up directly at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JSIA/
How do I leave?
Send a blank e-mail from the address from which you're subscribed
to:
JSIA-UNsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
If you have any problems or need to be removed manually, please
contact Annie.
