Miramax Films has optioned the spec screenplay "Bird Meets Girl" for comedic actor Jon Stewart to star in and produce. Written by the husband-and-wife team of Craig Shapiro and Elizabeth Kruger, "Bird" is a romantic comedy that centers on a love affair between the Baltimore Orioles mascot (Stewart) and a female sports reporter during the baseball team's run for the championship. Stewart's Busboy Prods. will produce the film as part of his overall first-look production deal with Miramax. Busboy executive Kyle Heller was instrumental in bringing "Bird" to Miramax and Bobby Cohen, Miramax vp of creative affairs, will oversee the project.
